Aside from its headset, Oculus, which is the heavyweight in VR, has developed a matching controller, although they have yet to launch it for sale. With the first sales of Oculus Rift in January 2016, a standard Xbox One controller was included in the purchase instead, since Oculus Touch was not yet fully developed. Oculus Touch will be launched in the second half of 2016. There is no actual launch date yet, however.

Summary

As far as immersion, Oculus has been left in the dust by HTC, who have already launched their VR Controllers. Oculus, however, is already in full swing with developing their best bet for how to teleport a user’s hands into the virtual world with them. And that’s not a bad bet at all…

Oculus Touch Review

If you’ve never tried Oculus Touch, but rather just the Xbox One controller, with Oculus Rift, you can look forward to an even better and more immersive experience.

Similar to, for instance, Nintendo Wii, Oculus Touch consists of a controller for each hand.

The controller, which is wireless, consists of two buttons and a small trigger button for your thumb, as well as buttons for your index and middle fingers. All of this contributes to giving you the most realistic experience possible, whether you are throwing balls, pointing in a direction, or grasping for things.

Furthermore, Oculus has developed a tracking technology, so the controller and distance to the headset are matched perfectly to each other. This produces such good quality in their product that the feeling of moving your own hands is incredibly convincing and a very intense experience.

In order to complete the Oculus experience, I – as well as many others – am looking forward to trying both the headset and Oculus Touch together. The only drawback that must be considered is the fact that the experience can be in the high end of the price range. This is because optimal use of Oculus requires a rather powerful and for many expensive computer.

Price

The price for Oculus Touch is not yet known. We will be keeping an eye out for both launch date and price, which, of course, we will publish on this page.

Conclusion

With Oculus Touch, Oculus has succeeded in creating the sensation of having one’s own hands in the virtual world. Oculus Touch can even track finger movements, such as a thumbs up, pointing, etc. All in all, there is no doubt that Oculus has created a state-of-the-art product. Just as with their VR headset, this is also a high-end product targeted primarily to the VR enthusiast. From here, I can only recommend this product whole-heartedly.
